Revised February 20th, 2015
Animation has always been something that I've been interested in, ever since I was a little girl. I would tell myself that I would grow up, become a professional animator, and leave my mark on the world with my creations. Though that dream is long gone, the interest in animation has not left me yet. I hope to bring my drawings to life through my animations. I will spend the first week learning to use the program. The following week I will test my hand at some simple, test animations. The third week I will begin to develop a story I want to portray in my animation. The fourth week I will begin to make the storyboard for the animation, soon blending into the fifth week where I touch up the animation and consistently test the fluidity of the animation.Hopefully, I will be able to make a very fluid and visually appealing animation to show others and bring life to my drawings.
I will be taking inspiration from several of these childhood movies, particularly Spirited Away and Ponyo, both movies made by Studio Ghibli. Some of the key features that I admire in their animations are its fluidity, its creativity, and its expressions. It's really beautiful artwork and brings a new type of magic to the world. Not only do I want to make my art as expressive, but I hope to obtain this amount of fluidity. Though there are different types of animation as well, such as stop motion and 3D animation, my favorite has to be the 2D animation. When you do it well, you can really tell because the art really does pop out of the screen. The simplicity of the animation does not undermine the true passion shown in the work. It's a truly beautiful form of art that I hope to achieve.
Wish me luck!

Hi Sieanna!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you found something that you have a lot of passion about, and you look forward to doing this project! I just had a few questions about your project. What program are you using? Do you have an idea for your story? About how long do you plan your animation? I'm very excited to see the animation! Are you planning on presenting it at your Ted Talk, because I think that that would be a not only important but interesting component to the presentation. Good luck, and I'm very excited to see your results!!
Hi Toni! Thanks for your comment~ For my animation I'm going to be using a combination of AnimeStudio 6.0 and MangaStudio. Anime studio will help the animation and the movement, but Mangastudio is going to make it cleaner and allow me to use different pen pressure. I've been considering actually implementing animation into my project. It depends on how complicated it will end up with the program I am using.
DeleteI'm so glad that you are doing something that was in your zone of interest for a long time--I did the same for my project. Animation is a pretty challenging topic to choose but I feel that it is possible with a lot of hard work! Using childhood animations as a building block for your process is also great! I'm looking forward to the rest of your blogs and am excited to see what the result will be!
ReplyDeleteThis project looks really cool and I cant wait to see the outcome. However, what kind of animation to you intend to create? I know you're sampling from cartons such as Ponyo and Spirited Away but what kinds of cartoons are they? (I'm not very good with identifying animations) Also, I like how you're viewing animation as an art, that'll definitely help with creativity and inspiration. Overall, nice job and good luck!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if I quite understand the question, but if you're talking about stylistically, I'm not quite sure if I'm planning to go abstract or if I would like it to keep it in the anime type of style. My drawing style I suppose is kind of like anime, but with my own personal twist on it. Not quite sure how to explain it, haha. I suppose as realistic as possible with my art style, but with a hint of creativity. I'll think about it.
